BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College volleyball team cruised to its 23rd consecutive win over Colby on Friday evening at Morrell Gymnasium, 3-0.

The Polar Bears improved to 4-1 (1-0 NESCAC) while the Mules fall to 1-4 (0-1 NESCAC). 

Match Highlights

• Bowdoin claimed the match by set scores of 25-13, 25-22, 25-11 to earn their first NESCAC match of the season.
• Bowdoin jumped to a 11-4 lead in the first set and Colby could get no closer than six the rest of the way as the Polar Bears took a 1-0 lead.
• The Mules rebounded in the second set, opening up a 16-11 advantage midway through the frame. Following a Polar Bear timeout, Bowdoin answered and rolled off a 9-3 run to take a 20-19 lead. Colby closed to within 23-22, but a Colby service error and a kill by Caroline Flaherty gave Bowdoin the set and a 2-0 lead.
• Bowdoin wasted little time putting the third set out of reach, taking a 12-3 lead out of the gate and cruising to the sweep.

By The Numbers

• Bowdoin extended their winning streak over Colby to 23 consecutive matches dating back to 2005.
• The Polar Bears played a clean match, committing just seven attack errors and getting a team-best 11 kills from Flaharty. Sydney Salle had nine kills while Khelsea Gordon had seven.
• Kate Kiser dished out 34 assists while Lisa Sheldon had 21 digs. Flaharty had three service aces while Salle ended with four blocks.
• Colby was paced by 11 kills from Paige Hanssen and six from Nicole Petherbridge.
• Emily Moslener had 19 assists and 11 digs. Hanssen led the Mules with 12 digs.
