Women's Tennis Cruises Over Colby-Sawyer Into Regional Final

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals following a 5-0 win over visiting Colby-Sawyer on Saturday afternoon.

The host Polar Bears continue their season with a 15-5 record. The Chargers conclude 2016-17 with a 17-6 record.

Match Highlights

  • The Polar Bears swept doubles play to earn a quick 3-0 lead. Pilar Giffenig and Sasa Jovanovic earned a quick win at #3 (8-1) followed closely by Tess Trinka and Tasha Christ at #2 (8-2).  Joulia Likhanskaia and Samantha Stalder wrapped up doubles at #1 (8-3).
  • Bowdoin needed just two points to clinch the match and Stalder earned the first at #3 singles. Stalder finished off Maddy Gemerek 6-1, 6-0.
  • Jovanovic clinched the match in the six spot without dropping a game.

Up Next

  • The Polar Bears will face the winner of Wesleyan/MIT in a 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon for the right to play in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
