Women's Tennis Dominates Singles Play in Win Over Babson

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team swept singles play in a comfortable 8-1 win over Babson on Friday afternoon at Pickard Courts.

The Polar Bears (12-4) are ranked eighth in the latest ITA Division III national poll.

  • Bowdoin won a pair of convincing doubles results to carry a 2-1 lead into singles action.
  • Joulia Likhanskaia/Samantha Stalder wasted little time in an 8-1 decision at #1, followed by an 8-3 win by Pilar Giffenig/Sasa Jovanovic at #3.
  • The Polar Bears put the contest away with a sweep in singles play, including five straight-set wins. Likhanskaia (6-1, 6-3), Tess Trinka (6-0, 6-1), Stalder (6-0, 6-4), Tasha Christ (6-1, 6-0) and Jovanovic (6-0, 6-0) cruised while Giffenig earned a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 comeback win.
