Women's Tennis Suffers First Setback at Fifth-Ranked CMS

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team suffered its first setback of the season in a 6-3 match at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday afternoon. 

The third-ranked Polar Bears are 6-1 after opening the spring campaign with five consecutive victories. The Athenas are currently ranked fifth with a perfect 10-0 record.

Match Highlights

  • Bowdoin's #2 doubles pairing of Pilar Giffenig and Tess Trinka earned a point for Bowdoin with an 8-4 win. The Polar Bears trailed the Athenas 2-1 heading into singles.
  • Joulia Likhanskaia picked up a point at #1 singles off a straight set victory (6-3, 6-1).
  • Sasa Jovanovic earned the final victory for Bowdoin against CMS in the five-spot. The first-year rallied for a 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-3).
