Women's Basketball Sinks UMass Dartmouth To Stay Unbeaten

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team rolled over UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday evening, 91-53.

The no. 10/17 Polar Bears remain perfect on the season (6-0) while the Corsairs (3-2) suffer their worst regular season loss since January of 2011.

Game Highlights

  • A closely-played first half saw Bowdoin hold a 47-35 edge at halftime.
  • The Polar Bears owned a ten-point lead after the first quarter, but the Corsairs trimmed the lead to just four points, 35-31, following a Leah Douty jumper with 4:48 to go in the second period.
  • Kate Kerrigan sparked a 12-4 Bowdoin run to end the half, however, hitting a pair of jumpers and collecting a steal to give the Polar Bears a 12-point lead at the break.
  • Bowdoin blew the game wide open with a dominant third quarter, scoring the first 10 points of the second half to take a commanding 22-point advantage just three minutes into the third quarter.
  • Taylor Choate scored six early points to key the run and Bowdoin continued to pour it on, outscoring UMD 44-18 in the second half of the game.

  • Bowdoin connected on 50% of their shots for the game, including 10-25 (40%) from three-point range.
  • The Polar Bears held the Corsairs to just 35% shooting and forced 31 turnovers by UMass-Dartmouth, directly leading to 35 Bowdoin points.
  • Taylor Choate finished with a game-high 17 points to go with six rebounds.
  • Kate Kerrigan scored ten points, had eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals for Bowdoin, who also got 16 points from Lauren Petit (who hit 5-7 from three-point range) and 12 from Lydia Caputi
  • UMass-Dartmouth was led by 14 points from Alicia Kutil and 12 from Ashley Brown.
  • Bowdoin held a 42-37 edge in rebounding and outscored the Corsairs 29-4 off the bench.
