BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team dealt the University of New England its worst loss in four years in a convincing 91-59 victory on Tuesday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears, ranked 13th in the latest WBCA Division III poll, improve to 3-0 on the season. The Nor'easters, who suffer their most lopsided loss since March of 2013, fall to 3-1.

Game Highlights

• After a tightly-played first seven minutes, Bowdoin took command with a 21-0 run over a five-minute period spanning the end of the first quarter and opening the second.
• Bowdoin held a 17-15 lead with a minute to go in the opening frame and got consecutive jumpers from Kate Kerrigan to extend their lead to 22-15 at the end of the first.
• The onslaught continued in the second quarter as UNE went cold and the Polar Bears got hot, scoring the first 16 points of the period, sparked by six points apiece from Taylor Choate and Lauren Petit.
• Bowdoin held a 50-27 lead at halftime and never looked back, leading by as many as 35 points in the second half en route to the victory.

• Bowdoin hit on 45% of their shots for the game while holding UNE to 29%.
• The Polar Bears buried 12 three-pointers and owned a 56-38 edge in rebounding, resulting in 22 second chance points.
• Taylor Choate netted a career-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds, six assists and two steals.
• Kate Kerrigan scored 17 points with eight rebounds and three assists while Lauren Petit added 14.
• Bowdoin's bench owned a 31-5 scoring edge over UNE, who was paced by 17 points from Olivia Shaw.
