LEWISTON, Maine - Brigit Bergin scored the game-winning goal with just 2:25 remaining to lift the Bowdoin College women's soccer team to a dramatic 3-2 win at Bates on Wednesday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (6-2-1, 2-2-1 NESCAC) extend their winning streak to five while the Bobcats fell to 5-3-1 (2-2-1 NESCAC). Bowdoin in unbeaten in their last 12 matches against their Lewiston neighbors (11-0-1).

Match Highlights

• Bowdoin seemed poised to cruise, scoring twice in a span of 14:13 in the opening half to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
• Julia Patterson finished off a succession of passes with a goal at 23:35 before Emma Beane put home a Claire Dardinski pass at 37:48, giving the visitors the two-goal lead.
• Bates was able to get a big goal before intermission as Summer Dias trimmed the lead to 2-1 with a goal in the 41st minute. The goal was the first for the Bobcats against Bowdoin since 2011.
• With the clock ticking under ten minutes to play, So Kim knotted the score for the Bobcats, taking a feed from Olivia Amdur to tie the contest with just 9:03 to go.
• With the contest seemingly destined for overtime, Julia Patterson fed Bergin at the top of the box, who rocketed a shot from the top of the box just under the crossbar with only 2:25 left in regulation. Bates would not threaten again as the Polar Bears hung on to win.
