Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine – Morgen Gallagher scored less than two minutes into Tuesday afternoon's game to extend the Bowdoin women's soccer team's win-streak and defeat visiting University of New England 1-0.
The Polar Bears (6-1-0) have strung together consecutive one-goal victories with strong defensive play that has allowed first half goals to decide the game. The Nor'Easters (6-2-0) were riding a three-game win streak, with their only other loss being a 1-0 result at Wheaton.
Game Highlights
- Gallagher provided the Polar Bears with all the offense they would need, finishing off a feed from Nikki Wilson just 1:23 into action. Wilson dribbled around the UNE defense and found Gallgher with a tight pass, which was controlled and put away on the ground.
- The Nor'Easters nearly netted an equalizer in the 24th minute as Taylor Littlefield clipped the crossbar with a high arcing shot from beyond the box.
- Brielle Robinson kept her team in the game, making several sprawling saves in net to deny Bowdoin. With 6:29 remaining in the second half, Robinson turned away a close-range shot by Talia Missan by diving to the post. Wilson quickly booted the rebound on net, but another UNE defender had stepped in to make a goal-line block.
- Robinson ended the day with seven saves for the Nor'Easters as Bowdoin held a 14-5 edge in shots. Anne Parrish and Sabrina Albanese each made a stop for the Polar Bears.
- Bowdoin held a 12-3 advantage in corner kicks.
