MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Tiffany Cheng clinched victory for Bowdoin with a three-set win at two singles as the women's tennis team defeated Wesleyan 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.
The fourth ranked Polar Bears (8-1) held a 2-1 lead after doubles, but the eighth ranked Cardinals forced a 3-3 split in singles play.
Match Highlights
- The pairing of Tess Trinka and Kyra Silitch earned a point at number two doubles with an 8-6 victory. Pilar Giffenig and Maddie Rolph earned another point for the Polar Bears at three with an 8-5 win.
- Trinka and Silitch won their singles matches in straight sets. Silitch tallied her team's third point of the day at number four with a 6-2, 6-1 final. Trinka followed up with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the three spot.
- Cheng clinched the 5-4 victory for Bowdoin with a three-set match at number two. After winning the opener 6-2, the senior captain fell 4-6 in the second before rebounding in the third, 6-3.
