Women's Tennis Defeats Williams for First Time In Program History

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's tennis team defeated second-ranked Williams 6-3 on Saturday afternoon for the first time in program history.

The Polar Bears (12-4) were 0-28 against the reigning national champion Ephs (13-3) all-time.

Match Highlights

  • Bowdoin opened the day with a doubles sweep.  Joulia Likhanskaia and Tiffany Cheng came back to win 8-6 at number one after trailing 4-1 to begin the match. Tess Trinka and Kyra Silitch secured the win at two with an 8-5 finish. Pilar Giffenig and Maddie Rolph secured the doubles sweep with the 9-7 win at three.
  • Cheng played the only straight set match of the day, going 7-5, 7-6 for the win at number two.
  • Samantha Stalder earned a win at six singles (6-4, 1-6, 7-6) after battling back in the third set tiebreaker.
  • Likhanskaia secured a three-set victory at number one (7-6, 6-7, 6-3) to tally the final match point for Bowdoin.
