Box Score 2 AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Bowdoin baseball team suffered a series sweep at the hands of Slave Regina to close out the Polar Bears' Florida schedule.
Weather concerns forced the Friday double header to be split into a two-day event. The Seahawks (4-6) captured game one with 10-1 victory in six innings, as the conditions shortened Thursday's game. Bowdoin (9-3) produced a few more runs in game two on Friday, but suffered a 15-4 setback.
Game One Highlights
- The Polar Bears struck first in the first inning. Peter Cimini drove in Sean Mullaney with an RBI double. Bowdoin was unable to produce another run in the following five innings.
- Brody Santil drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the second with a double.
- The Seahawks tallied four run innings in both the fourth and sixth frames. An errant pitch in both innings resulted in runs for Salve Regina as well as an error in the field.
- John Kussmaul tallied an RBI double, while John Militano added an RBI single. Colton Eremian drove in another runner with a groundout to short before the final damage was done with a two-run blast off the bat of Kussmaul.
Game Two Highlights
- Salve jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first off a Militano double and another wild pitch.
- Militano continued to produce with another RBI double in the following inning, eventually stealing home after advancing to third on an RBI single off Alex Perry's bat. Zack Smith closed out the inning with a double to left that drove in Perry.
- Bjorn Hansen responded with an RBI double of his own to left field, cutting the game to 6-1.
- The Seahawks put two runs on the board in each of the following three innings. Salve Regina put another run on the board in the sixth and two more again in the ninth.
- Cimini drove in another run for Bowdoin with a single to third in the fifth inning.
- Cullen Geary tagged a two-run single through the left side that concluded Bowdoin's scoring.
- The Bowdoin pitching staff allowed 19 hits and 12 earned runs in the game with ten combined strikeouts.
