Women's Tennis Stalls Sewanee In 7-2 Spring Opener

PEPPERDINE, Calif. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and opened the 2016 season with a 7-2 final against Sewanee on Monday afternoon.

Match Highlights

  • Bowdoin swept doubles to open the match, paced by Tess Trinka and Kyra Silitch at #2 with an 8-3 win.
  • Pilar Giffenig with Maddie Rolph earned a win at #3 with an 8-4 final, while Joulia Likhanskaia and Tiffany Cheng combined for a win at #1 at 8-5.
  • Silitch (6-1, 6-3) and Rolph (6-1, 6-4) captured singles victories with straight set wins at #4 and #5 respectively.
  • Cheng took a win at #2 in three sets. Cheng went up with a 6-4 first set and battled back from a 3-6 second to win the third 6-0.
  • Sarah Shadowens came away with a hard fought three set victory at #6 after winning the opener 6-2 and dropping the second set 3-6. Shadowens dug out a 7-5 third to conclude the match.
