BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team used a dominant second quarter to pull away from Middlebury in a 63-46 win on Saturday at Morrell Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 17-5 (6-2 NESCAC) with the win while the Panthers fall to 11-10 (3-5 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- Middlebury was able to grab an early lead thanks to six early points from Catherine Harrison and held a 15-14 advantage late in the opening frame
- Marle Curle's running layup late in the period gave Bowdoin a 16-15 edge after one quarter and proved to be the final lead change of the contest
- Bowdoin overwhelmed Middlebury in the second quarter, holding the Panthers to just 10% shooting (1-10) and scored 14 of the period's first 16 points to take a commanding 30-17 lead
- Hannah Graham nailed a three-pointer before the halftime buzzer to give the hosts a 33-20 lead at the break
- Bowdoin continued to roll in the second half, extending the lead to as many as 24 points on their way to their fifth straight win

- On Senior Day in Brunswick, Bowdoin's Shannon Brady battled foul trouble to score six points and grab three rebounds with two blocks in her regular season finale in Morrell Gymnasium
- The Polar Bears used a balanced attack that saw Kate Kerrigan and Marle Curle each finish with 12 points while Lauren Petit added 11
- Kerrigan added five rebounds and three assists while Petit had five rebounds and three steals
- Middlebury was paced by 12 points from Colleen Caveney while Alex Huffman added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds
- Bowdoin held Middlebury to 29% shooting for the game and forced 18 turnovers, scoring 17 points off Panther miscues
