Women's Basketball Cruises To Friday Night Win Over Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team outscored Hamilton 50-18 in the second and third quarters en route to a convincing 80-51 win on Friday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears rolled to their fourth straight victory and improve to 16-5 (5-2 NESCAC). The Continentals fall to 7-14 (1-6 NESCAC) with the setback.

Game Highlights

  • Hamilton grabbed the early lead as the Polar Bears came out cold, missing their first four shots
  • The Continentals took a 7-2 lead following a Sam Graber three pointer and, after a brief Bowdoin spurt, remained tied at 10-10 midway through the opening frame
  • Bowdoin took the lead for good thanks to a 10-1 surge, sparked by a pair of Kate Kerrigan three-pointers that gave the Polar Bears a 20-13 lead after the first quarter
  • The Polar Bears continued to roll in the second quarter, scoring the first eight points of the period and ending the half on a 6-0 run to take a 43-23 lead at the break
  • Bowdoin put the game on ice in the third quarter, amassing an 18-2 run that resulted in a 27-8 scoring advantage in the frame
  • The hosts led by as many as 39 points in the second half en route to the win

By The Numbers

  • Shannon Brady played just 22 minutes, including none in the fourth quarter, but still finished with a game-high 20 points and five rebounds
  • Ally Silfen added 15 points off the bench for the Polar Bears while Kerrigan and Lydia Caputi had eight points each
  • Hamilton was paced by Graber's 16 points while Halie Serbent added 12
  • Bowdoin held a 42-33 advantage on the glass, including 19 offensive rebounds that resulted in 22 second chance points
  • The Polar Bears also forced 22 turnovers and took advantage with 24 points off Hamilton miscues
