Camels Come From Behind to Force Double OT Draw Against Men's Soccer

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Connecticut College men's soccer team scored in the final four minutes of regulation to force overtime as the Polar Bears and Camels played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (7-3-4, 3-3-3 NESCAC) have played six games in the month of October, with five of those games going into overtime or double overtime. It is the team's second consecutive 1-1 draw and fourth of the season. The Camels sit at 9-4-1 (4-4-1 NESCAC) on the season.

Game Highlights

  • Matty McColl opened the scoring in the 26th minute on a tic-tac-toe passing sequence from Moctar Niang and Ethan Ellsworth.
  • The Polar Bears stood strong defensively through the remainder of the first half and well into the second, until the Camels scored with three minutes remaining in regulation. Chris Lockwood took advantage of miscommunication in the backfield to extend the game.
  • The team's traded shots in the opening overtime frame, but neither team could direct the ball on net.
  • Noah Safian made a pair of saves in the second overtime, including a point blank stop.
  • Safian made three stops for the Polar Bears while Mark Cameron made four for Connecticut College. Bowdoin held a 13-8 shot advantage and 12-4 edge in corner kicks.
