Ephs Edge Women's Soccer in Sunday Matchup

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Williams on Sunday afternoon in a rematch of last year's NESCAC Championship.

The Polar Bears (8-4-0, 4-3-0 NESCAC) were looking to sweep their weekend slate after downing Hamilton on Saturday. The second-ranked Ephs improved to 12-0-1 and 7-0-1 in conference play.

Game Highlights

  • Sarah Scire split a pair of Bowdoin defenders and fed the ball beyond the Polar Bears back line to set up Audrey Thomas for the game's first goal. Thomas drew Rachel Stout out in a one-on-one and chipped the ball over Stout for the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute.
  • Midway through the second half, Williams doubled its lead. Kristi Kirshe set up the play by working the ball down the left side to the end line. Kirshe fed Kristina Alvarado in the middle for a one-timer.
  • Williams held a 15-9 edge in shots and slight 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Stout made eight stops in net for the Polar Bears, while Olivia Barnhill made a save in the shutout.
