BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team held off a late surge by Colby in a 3-1 victory on Friday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears earn their 10th victory of the season and improve to 10-5 (4-4 NESCAC), having won four of their last five matches. The Mules fall to 4-16 and remain winless (0-7 NESCAC) in conference play this year.

Match Highlights

• Bowdoin took the win by set scores of 25-13, 25-18, 23-25, 25-11
• The Polar Bears used big runs to pull away from the Mules in the first two sets, closing the first set on a 14-3 run and rolling off a 10-3 surge to open the second en route to a 2-0 lead
• The Mules grabbed a late 20-17 lead against the Polar Bears in the third set before a 6-3 run knotted the score at 23 apiece. Colby took advantage of took late Bowdoin errors, though, to win their second set in NESCAC play this season 25-23
• Bowdoin stifled all thoughts of a comeback in the fourth set, however, jumping to a 17-4 lead and cruising to the 25-11 win

• Caroline Flaharty led all players with 16 kills while also notching eight digs for the Polar Bears while Quincy Leech dished out 42 assists
• Sydney Salle added 13 kills while Erika Sklaver had nine
• Defensively Katie Doherty had 25 digs while Khelsea Gordon had three blocks
• Colby was paced by Paige Hanssen's 11 kills and Elizabeth Noyes' seven
• Emily Moslener (15 assists) and Molly Manuel (10) split setting duties for the Mules, who got six blocks from Karolina Serhan
