Tufts Uses Big Opening Half to Beat Men's Basketball

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Tufts University men's basketball team jumped to an early lead and never looked back in a 102-69 win over Bowdoin on Friday evening.

The Jumbos improve to 10-2 (1-0 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears see their four-game winning streak snapped and fall to 7-4 (0-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

  • Tufts shot 61% from the field in the first half, including 8-14 from three-point range to take a 58-20 lead at halftime
  • Leading 12-8 in the early going, the Jumbos used a 10-0 run to push the lead to double digits and continued to roll, getting 16 first-half points from Vincent Pace and 11 from Stephen Haladyna, who did not miss a shot in the opening period
  • Bowdoin struggled from the field, hitting just 25% in the first half including 1-10 from three-point range
  • The Polar Bears outscored Tufts in the second half 49-44 to close the final margin
