BRUNSWICK, Maine - Jack Bors scored a career-high 20 points off the bench to propel the Bowdoin College men's basketball team to a key 85-82 win over Colby on Saturday afternoon at Morrell Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 9-7 (2-4 NESCAC) while the Mules drop to 12-7 (1-5 NESCAC). Bowdoin avenges a non-conference loss to Colby in Waterville earlier this season, 86-81, on December 5.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin carried a 42-30 lead into halftime thanks to 60% first half-shooting
- Lucas Hausman netted 21 points in the opening period as the Polar Bears held the Mules to just 36% from the field
- Colby came out firing in the second half, using a 15-4 run over the opening five minutes to close the gap to 46-45 with 14:16 to go
- Bowdoin was able to extend the lead back to nine points following a Bors jumper, 63-54, with 6:14 on the clock before the Mules began their late run
- Chris Hudnut scored eight straight points to spark a 11-3 run that closed the gap to 66-65 with under three minutes to play
- Bowdoin maintained a three-point lead with a minute to go but Hudnut hit a single free throw, Colby got a defensive stop, and Luke Westman hit a running lay-in to send the game into overtime
- In overtime the teams traded points until Sam Wilson's lay-up with 1:41 to go gave the Mules a 77-76 edge
- Lucas Hausman was fouled shooting a three-pointer on the next possession and buried all three freebies to regain the lead for the hosts, 79-77
- Hausman added a three-pointer and Bowdoin connected on four free throws down the stretch to seal the victory

- Bowdoin finished at 50% shooting for the game while Colby used 64% shooting in the second half to raise their game percentage to 46%
- Rebounds, assists and turnovers were tight with the differential coming off the bench for Bowdoin, who used Bors' 20 points to key a 24-7 advantage in reserve scoring
- Hausman scored 35 points to lead all players while Bors added his career-high 20
- Jack Simonds finished with 19, including six in overtime for the Polar Bears
- Hudnut ended with a team-high 33 in the loss for Colby
