Box Score BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team gave new head coach Erin Cady a win in her Polar Bear debut, cruising to a 3-0 win in their season-opener at the University of New England on Tuesday evening.
The Polar Bears dominated from start to finish claiming the victory by game scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-14. Bowdoin stands at 1-0 while UNE drops to 1-2 on the season.
How It Happened
- Bowdoin never trailed in any of the three sets, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first, a 4-0 lead in the second and a 3-1 advantage to open the third.
- Senior Christy Jewett opened the year with an impressive stat-line, recording a match-high 12 kills and 13 digs.
- The Polar Bears racked up 13 service aces, led by six from Quincy Leech.
- Michelle Albright added seven kills while Erika Sklaver had five for Bowdoin.
- Leech (13 assists) and Clare McInerney (11 assists) sparked the Polar Bear offense in the win.
- Erika Sawicki and Grayson Szczepaniak led UNE with eight kills apiece.
