BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team opened the 2015 season with a seven goal performance at the University of New England on Tuesday night.

The Polar Bears (1-0) scored a pair of goals in the first half of play and added five in the second frame to shutout the Nor'Easters (1-2) in Tuesday's non-conference matchup.

How It Happened

• Connor Keefe scored the first goal of the game just 4:04 into the contest, heading the ball past UNE goalie Elijah Leverett off a feed from Andrew Jones in the right corner.
• Jones added two goals of his own, coming at 17:31 and 52:22, accounting for the Polar Bears second and fourth goals of the game. Jones' first goal came off a feed from Matt Dias Costa in the center while the second was a one-timer from Dias Costa and Austin Downing.
• Moctar Niang scored his first collegiate goal at 49:42 as he headed in a corner kick from the left side.
• Hunter Miller had a pair of assists for Bowdoin, feeding the ball to Niang for the team's third goal of the game, and again feeding Cedric Charlier at 65:10 off a UNE turnover.
• Riley Bubb scored with 7:05 remaining after collecting a rebound and tucking a shot inside the right post.
• Nick DiStefano closed out the night's scoring with a successful penalty kick with less than three minutes to play.
• Bowdoin outshot UNE 20-4 with a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.
• Leverett made four saves for the Nor'Easters with Stevie Van Siclen making one stop for Bowdoin.
