BRUNSWICK, Maine – Kiersten Turner supplied the Bowdoin women's soccer team with all the offense they would need as Bridget McCarthy turned away six shots to preserve the shutout and give Bowdoin a 1-0 NESCAC win over visiting Middlebury on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears climb to 3-2-0 overall with a 2-2-0 conference record following the shutout. The Panthers drop their second straight contest, falling to 2-3-0 (1-3-0 NESCAC). The Panthers strung together six consecutive wins over Bowdoin between 2009-13, but Bowdoin has now won back-to-back contests. 

How It Happened

• Turner scored the game's lone goal 20:54 into the contest. The senior captain charged towards Middlebury keeper Kate Reinmuth with the goalie coming out to challenge. Turner poked the ball in to give Bowdoin the 1-0 advantage.
• McCarthy made four saves in the opening half to keep the visitors off the board. Reinmuth made a pair of saves in the first 29:59 before being relieved by Emily Eslinger for the remainder of the game.
• Eslinger stopped three shots to keep Middlebury within one through the final 60 minutes of play. McCarthy tallied two more saves in the second half, including a shot from Adrianna Gildner with 4:10 remaining.
• Bowdoin held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks and 12-9 shot advantage.
