BRUNSWICK, Maine  - The Bowdoin field hockey team came away with a 6-0 victory against Williams College on Sunday afternoon in a battle of the unbeaten at Ryan Field.

The second ranked Polar Bears (5-0, 4-0 NESCAC) handed the Ephs their first loss of the season, dropping the visitors to 5-1 (2-1 NESCAC).

How It Happened

• Kimmy Ganong got Bowdoin on the board early with a tipped in goal 2:37 into action. Following the insert on a penalty corner, Kim Kahnweiler had a stick stop that left the ball primed for a drive from Kelsey Mullaney. Ganong tipped Mullaney's hit at the left post for the 1-0 lead.
• The game remained a one goal differential until Rachel Kennedy scored consecutive goals. The senior captain's first goal came from a Mettler Growney feed with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half. On a restart at the 25, Growney carried the ball through the Williams defense before flipping a reverse stick pass to Kennedy on the left post.
• Kennedy scored her second goal of the half with 30 seconds remaining on the clock after Williams' goalie Margaret Draper successfully stopped the initial shot from Mullaney on a penalty corner. Kennedy collected the ball at Draper's feet and spun around to score and put Bowdoin up 3-0 at the half.
• Ganong and Kennedy combined for Bowdoin's fourth goal of the game, with Kennedy moving the ball down the right side with Ganong sprinting down the center. Kennedy crossed to Ganong after pulling the goalie to the right post, allowing Ganong an open look at net 2:20 into the second half.
• Kennedy tallied her third hat trick in as many games as she finished off a pass from Mullaney with six minutes remaining.
• Growney tallied a goal of her own with three left on the clock, putting in a feed from Alexa Baumgartner on the left post.
• Williams earned one penalty corner and managed four shots, forcing Clara Belitz to make three stops to preserve the shutout. Draper made nine saves for the Ephs.
• Allie Holle had two defensive saves for Williams, including a goal line stop on a Growney drive 11 minutes into action.
• Bowdoin held a 17-1 edge in corners and 21-4 shot advantage over the Ephs.
