BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's tennis team continued to roll as it collected its fifth consecutive victory with a 9-0 win over Bates on Wednesday afternoon.
The eighth-ranked Polar Bears improve to 8-2 on the season and remain perfect (3-0) in NESCAC matches. The Bobcats dropped their fifth straight match and fall to 4-8 (1-3 NESCAC).
Bowdoin set the tone for the afternoon by winning all three doubles matches by 8-1 scores. Joulia Likhanskaia and Tiffany Cheng collected a victory at #1 doubles over Bates' Elena Mandzhukova and Elizabeth Erbafina. Tess Trinka and Kyra Silitch combined at #2 while Emma Chow and Pilar Giffenig teamed up at #3 also earning 8-1 wins.
Bates' Erbafina played the most competitive singles match of the day, falling 6-2, 6-3 at #2 to Cheng. Likhanskaia dispatched her opponent at #1 (6-1, 5-0), Trinka at #3 (6-2-, 6-0), Samantha Stalder at #4 won (6-0, 6-0) as did Silitch at #6. Giffenig captured the win at #5 with a (6-0, 6-1) performance.
Bowdoin plays at fourth-ranked Amherst Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
