Women's Tennis Falls in Tight 5-4 Match to Top Ranked Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass – The Bowdoin women's tennis team nearly knocked off undefeated and top ranked Williams College on Saturday afternoon after finishing the day with a slim 5-4 loss.

The Ephs are 17-0 on the season and 6-0 in NESCAC play. Today's match against the Polar Bears (12-4, 6-2 NESCAC) was the closest any team has played the Ephs all season.

Bowdoin led Williams after doubles with a 2-1 edge. The Polar Bears took an 8-6 decision at #2 from Kyra Silitch and Tess Trinka and a 9-8(5) win at #3 from Emma Chow and Pilar Giffenig.

The Polar Bears earned two more wins at #3 and #5 singles. Trinka won in straight sets going 6-3, 7-6(4) to earn the point for Bowdoin. Silitch battle in a three-set match at #5 to win 6-2, 0-6, 7-5.

Bowdoin will compete in the NESCAC Championship beginning Friday at Middlebury College. Selections and match times will be announced early next week.
