CLINTON, N.Y. - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team bounced back from a loss on Saturday to post a pair of dominating victories on Sunday.
The 10th-ranked Polar Bears carded two 9-0 shutout wins, against Hamilton in the morning and 16th-ranked Skidmore in the afternoon. Bowdoin stands at 10-3 this season and will host a huge conference match on Saturday, April 18 against Middlebury at 10:00 a.m.
Joulia Likhanskaia highlighted the sweep for Bowdoin, recording a pair of 8-0 wins with teammate Tiffany Cheng in doubles action and then - at #1 singles in both matches - lost just a single game on the afternoon. She recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win against Hamilton and took a 6-0, 6-0 win against Skidmore.
Against Hamilton, Bowdoin also got doubles wins from Kyra Silitch/Tess Trinka (8-2) and Emma Chow/Samantha Stalder (8-2). As a team, Bowdoin lost just eight games in six straight-set singles wins.
In the Skidmore match, Trinka/Silitch (8-6) and Chow/Pilar Giffenig (8-5) fended off tough battles to give Bowdoin a 3-0 lead heading into singles. The Polar Bears again decisively put away six straight-set singles matches to round out the victory.
