CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team opened their spring campaign with a 7-2 win over Trinity (Texas) on Monday morning.
The sixth-ranked Polar Bears will for their second win of the 2015 season on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. (PST) in a NESCAC matchup against Wesleyan in Claremont.
Bowdoin swept doubles play to open the day with the #1 pairing of Joulia Likhanskaia and Tess Trinka and #3 duo of Pilar Giffenig and Tiffany Cheng taking 8-2 wins. At #2 doubles, Emma Chow and Kyra Silitch captured an 8-5 victory.
The Polar Bears tacked on straight-set wins at #1, 3, 5 and 6 singles to cap the match. Likhansaia earned the win in the top spot with a 6-0, 6-3 showing, followed by Trinka at #3 (6-4,6-3), Samantha Stalder at #5 (6-2, 6-3), and Silitch at #6 (6-0, 6-3).
