CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team closed out a successful California trip with a 8-1 win over Trinity on Wednesday afternoon.
Winners of three straight matches, the Polar Bears will return east with a 6-2 record and #6 national ranking.
On Wednesday afternoon, Bowdoin blanked the Bantams in doubles play to take a 3-0 lead into singles. The teams of Joulia Likhanskaia/Tiffany Cheng (8-2), Tess Trinka/Kyra Silitch (8-1) and Emma Chow/Pilar Giffenig (8-2) each cruised to victories.
In singles action, Bowdoin collected five straight-set wins, including three shutouts. Cheng (6-0, 6-0), Giffenig (6-0, 6-0) and Samantha Stalder (6-0, 6-0) did not surrender a game in earning wins for the Polar Bears. Likhanskaia (6-1, 6-4) and Silitch (6-0, 6-1) also earned singles victories for Bowdoin.
