CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team fell behind 3-0 in doubles and came up short in a furious comeback on Thursday evening, dropping a 6-3 decision to #2 Emory.
The sixth-ranked Polar Bears fall to 3-1 this season with the setback.
Bowdoin's Joulia Likhanskaia and Tess Trinka had the best battle in doubles play for the Polar Bears, but lost a 9-7 decision as the team fell behind 3-0 heading into singles. The Polar Bears mounted a big comeback, earning victories from Likhanskaia at #1 (6-4, 6-4), Trinka at #3 (4-6, 7-5, 10-4) and Kyra Silitch at #6 (6-1, 6-1), but couldn't muster up wins at the other three positions to complete the rally.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Sunday at Pomona-Pitzer.
