GORHAM, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team used a dominant second quarter to pull away in a lopsided 77-46 win over Southern Maine on Tuesday evening.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-2 this season with the victory. USM falls to 2-4 overall.

Game Highlights

• The Polar Bears came out firing, nailing six three-pointers in the opening period, including three from Abigail Kelly, to take a 24-15 lead
• A 10-0 Bowdoin run in the second quarter, combined with a stifling defense, saw the Polar Bears out-score the Huskies 17-6 and take a commanding 41-21 lead at intermission
• The Polar Bears continued to roll, leading by as many as 32 points in the second half en route to the comfortable victory

By The Numbers

• Bowdoin again used a balanced attack as 13 different players scored in the win, including seven players with at least five points
• Kelly finished with a team-best 13 off the bench, including six rebounds and three steals
• Shannon Brady scored 12 points with eight rebounds and three steals for the Polar Bears
• Kate Kerrigan, Lauren Petit and Marle Curle each scored nine points in the win
• USM was led by 13 points from Megan Pelletier
• Bowdoin held a 32-18 edge in points off the bench and also owned a 44-32 advantage on the glass
• The Polar Bears forced 26 USM turnovers, resulting in 33 points for Bowdoin
