Box Score 2 LEWISTON, Maine - For the second time in school history, the Bowdoin College women's volleyball team has earned the top seed for the NESCAC Tournament.
Bowdoin (20-4, 9-1 NESCAC) rounded out their season with a pair of wins on Saturday, clinching the top spot for the first time since 2011, when they won their lone NESCAC title. The Polar Bears defeated Bates 3-1 and Husson 3-0 to reach the 20-win plateau for the eighth time overall and fifth consecutive campaign.
The Polar Bears will host the eight-team NESCAC Tournament in Brunswick beginning on Friday evening.
Bates Match
- Needing a win to clinch the top seed for the conference, Bowdoin lost the first set but rebounded to take the win 24-26, 25-21, 25-15, 25-20
- Christy Jewett (20 kills, eight digs), Erika Sklaver (15 kills, four blocks) and Sydney Salle (12 kills) were outstanding for the Bowdoin offense in the win
- Quincy Leech added three kills to her 46 assists and scooped 10 digs for the Polar Bears
- Katie Doherty led all players with 17 digs in the win
Husson Match
- Bowdoin cruised against the Eagles, wrapping the season with a 25-12, 25-13, 25-13 win
- A balanced attack was led by seven kills from Jewett, six from Michelle Albright, and five from Khelsea Gordon
- Eleven different players collected a kill for the Polar Bears
- Clare McInerney dealt 13 assists and had seven digs for Bowdoin
- Doherty had a team-best nine digs in the win
