Box Score MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's soccer team concluded their regular season schedule with a 3-2 win at Tufts on Tuesday afternoon, setting the stage for Saturday's NESCAC quarterfinal to be played between the Jumbos and Polar Bears in Brunswick.
Bowdoin ends the regular season with at 10-4-1 (7-3-0 NESCAC) to secure the number two seed in the NESCAC. Tufts sits in seventh place with a 6-7-2 (4-5-1 NESCAC) record, punching their ticket to Brunswick for the quarterfinal.
How It Happened
- Maggie Godley put Bowdoin on the board just shy of the nine minute mark, finishing off a feed from Jamie Hofstetter. Godley received the pass at the top of the box and finished the play with a shot to the top right corner.
- Tufts evened the game with fifteen minutes remaining in the half as Sarah Grubman bested Bridget McCarthy following a scrum in front of the goal.
- Godley sent Bowdoin into the half with a 2-1 lead, scoring with eight seconds remaining in the frame with another shot from the top of the 18. Claire Dardinski serviced Godley, with the senior finding the top left corner.
- Hofstetter scored the eventual game-winner ten minutes into the second half, heading in a ball from Lauren McLaughlin.
- Grubman looked to spark a late Jumbos rally, collecting a rebound and scoring in the 88th minute. Grubman's second goal of the game came from the top of the box.
- McCarthy ended the day with six saves for the Polar Bears, as Emily Bowers stopped 10 shots for Tufts. Bowdoin outshot the Jumbos by a 30-17 margin with a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
