Box Score HARTFORD, Conn. – Mettler Growney scored 3:01 into overtime to give the Bowdoin field hockey team a 3-2 win at host Trinity on Saturday afternoon.
The second-ranked Polar Bears remain perfect with a 9-0 overall record and 6-0 mark in conference play. The Bantams are 5-5 (3-4 NESCAC) after scoring more goals against Bowdoin than any other team this season.
How It Happened
- Juliana Fiore scored 6:55 into the contest to give the Polar Bears and early 1-0 lead.
- Trinity scored back-to-back goals in the 20th and 28th minutes of the first half to lead Bowdoin 2-1 going into the break. Liz Carporale tied the game before Sidney Doolittle gave the Bantams the lead.
- Liz Znamierowski evened the score off a feed from Kimmy Ganong in the second half less than two minutes in.
- Growney bested Trinity's Sophie Fitzpatrick in overtime with a shot from low on the right side off a broken corner.
- Fitzpatrick ended the game with 17 saves. Bowdoin's Clara Belitz made three stops. The Polar Bears outshot Trinity by a 28-9 margin.
