BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Williams in its regular season finale Saturday.

The Polar Bears, ranked seventh nationally, finish their regular slate with a record of 13-5. Williams, ranked first in Division III, improves to 17-1 on the year.

Williams emerged from doubles play with a 2-1 advantage thanks to a hard-fought win at #3 as Alex Stone and Linda Shin edged Pilar Giffenig and Tiffany Cheng with a 9-8 (7) victory. Kate Winingham and Samantha Stalder accounted for the other Bowdoin point in doubles action, earning a 8-6 triumph at #2.

Emma Lewis was the lone Polar Bear to come away with a victory in singles action, taking a straight-set, 6-0, 6-4 win at #5. Joulia Likhanskaia (#2) and Kyra Silitch (#6) both pushed their matches to a third set before falling.

Bowdoin will host the NESCAC Championship next weekend in Brunswick. Tournament pairings and schedule will be announced next week.
