WALTHAM, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team rolled to its sixth-consecutive victory on Sunday at Brandeis, 5-3.
The seventh-ranked Polar Bears improve to 9-2 this spring while the 24th-ranked Judges fall to 3-7 this season.
Bowdoin jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles action. The Polar Bears got an 8-4 win at No. 3, courtesy of Tiffany Cheng and Pilar Giffenig. The Polar Bears pulled ahead as Samantha Stalder and Kate Winningham took a late break to win, 8-6, in the third spot.
The Polar Bears won three singles matches to clinch the victory. Winingham earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at #2, Joulia Likhanskaia cruised 6-1, 6-2 at #3, and Emma Lewis rallied 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at #5. Giffenig's match at #6 singles was unfinished.
Bowdoin will return to action at home Sunday, April 6, against Connecticut College (1:30 p.m.)
