MEDFORD, Mass. - The seventh-ranked Bowdoin College women's tennis team swept doubles play and coasted to a 7-2 win over #18 Tufts on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears are now 8-2 on the season, and 2-0 in NESCAC play. Bowdoin is scheduled to play at Brandeis on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Bowdoin's doubles pairings of Joulia Likhanskaia/Emma Lewis (8-6), Kate Winingham/Samantha Stalder (8-5) and Pilar Giffenig/Tiffany Cheng (8-3) propelled the Polar Bears to an early 3-0 edge in the match. The Polar Bears cruised to four straight-set singles wins to clinch the victory. Cheng at #1 (6-2, 6-3), Winingham at #2 (6-2, 7-5), Lewis at #5 (6-3, 6-3) and Giffenig at #6 (6-3, 6-2) accounted for the Bowdoin wins.
