Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team saw its season conclude in a 3-0 loss to Williams in an NCAA Division III Regional Final on Sunday afternoon.
The Polar Bears, who match their furthest-ever finish in NCAA Tournament play, end the year with a record of 23-9. Williams claimed the match by scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-16.
Bowdoin kept it close in the opening set, but used a 11-4 surge to pull away for a first-set triumph. The second set was tied at 7-7, but the Ephs again rolled off a big run - this time a 13-1 spurt, to go up 2-0. Carrying the momentum into the third set, Williams jumped to a 15-5 lead en route to the eventual victory.
The win avenged a loss by the Ephs to Bowdoin, 3-2, on November 1.
Christy Jewett finished with seven kills and six digs and ends the season as the school's single-season kills leader (445). Erika Sklaver had five kills and ends the year as Bowdoin's single-season blocks record holder (138). Katie Doherty finished with 11 digs to increase her school-record digs total to 597, establishing another single-season school mark.
For their performances at the regional this weekend, Sklaver and Jewett were named to the All-Regional team.
Bowdoin has qualified for three of the last four NCAA Division III Tournaments and has reached the Regional Final in two of the last three campaigns. The Polar Bears have no seniors on this year's roster.
