Box Score AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin College volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback at Amherst on Friday evening.
The Jeffs officially eliminated the Polar Bears from NESCAC Championship hosting potential as the teams jockey for conference playoff positioning. Amherst took the win by set scores of 25-22, 15-25, 26-24, 25-15. Amherst improves to 19-6 (7-2 NESCAC) while Bowdoin falls to 19-7 (5-4 NESCAC).
In the loss, Bowdoin's Katie Doherty racked up 33 digs, breaking the program's single-season mark. Doherty has 486 digs on the season, surpassing the previous mark of 484 set by Jenna Diggs in 2006.
Christy Jewett led all players with 18 kills, and added 17 digs for Bowdoin. Hailey Wahl totaled nine kills while Michelle Albright added five kills and 11 digs. Erika Sklaver had four total blocks in the loss. Quincy Leech (22 assists) and Clare McInerney (17) split setting duties for the Polar Bears.
Amherst used a balanced attack, led by 13 kills from Nicole Gould. Katie Warshaw had 24 digs for the Jeffs while Nicole Carter dealt 24 assists.
The Polar Bears will look to bounce back on Saturday as they play their regular season finale at Williams at 2:00 p.m. Bowdoin will finish as the fifth or sixth seed in the eight-team conference tournament, scheduled to begin next weekend, depending on Saturday's results around the league.
