Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Trinity College women's volleyball team defeated Bowdoin 3-1 on Friday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.
In dealing the Polar Bears just their third home loss in the last 57 matches in Morrell Gymnasium, the Bantams improve to 10-4 (2-2 NESCAC). Bowdoin drops to 11-4 (2-2 NESCAC) with the loss. Trinity held off Bowdoin in four hard-fought sets, winning by scores of 28-26, 12-25, 29-27, 25-20.
Kate Giddens led the way for the Bantams, putting home a team-high 14 kills to go with 14 digs. Hunter Drews had nine kills while Claudia Varner had seven kills. Defensively, Grace Metry had 19 digs while Katie Stueber had five blocks.
Bowdoin was led by a match-high 19 kills from Christy Jewett, who also had seven aces and 11 digs. Erika Sklaver had 10 kills while Quincy Leech notched 29 assists. Katie Doherty had 34 digs in the match, three shy of the school record.
Both teams will return to action tomorrow as Trinity travels to play Colby and Bowdoin hosts Wesleyan. Both matches are scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
