Box Score AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin College volleyball team opened its weekend at the Hall of Fame Invitational with a 3-0 win over Wheaton (Mass.).
Winners of six consecutive matches, the Polar Bears improve to 18-5 on the season with the 25-15, 25-22, 28-26 victory. The Lyons fall to 16-11 with the loss.
Christy Jewett was dominant for Bowdoin, racking up a match-high 16 kills to spark the Polar Bear offense. Clare Geyer had eight kills while Erika Sklaver posted seven. Katie Doherty led Bowdoin defensively with 21 digs while Quincy Leech (19 assists) and Clare McInerney (18 assists) split setting duties.
Deirde Wilson and Arieanna Creighton had eight kills apiece to lead Wheaton.
Due to a power outage at the Smith location on Friday evening, match times for the Tournament on Saturday have been pushed back an hour. The Polar Bears will play Springfield at 1:00 p.m. and Wellesley at 5:00 p.m. with both matches hosted by Amherst.
