Volleyball Nets Solid Non-Conference Road Win at UMass Boston

BOSTON, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team rallied from a one-set deficit to take a quality non-conference road win over UMass Boston on Tuesday evening, 3-1.

The Polar Bears improve to 14-5 on the season with the 27-29, 25-23, 25-13, 25-15 victory. The Beacons fall to  16-7 this year with the setback. Bowdoin leads the all-time series 6-4 and has won the last three meetings between the schools.

Christy Jewett led the Bowdoin offense, putting home a match-high 21 kills to go with 10 digs en route to the victory. Erika Sklaver notched 14 kills and collected six blocks for the Polar Bears while Katie Doherty racked up 24 digs. Quincy Leech sparked the Bowdoin offense with 37 assists.

Blair Boyer led UMass Boston with 11 kills and 12 digs.

The Polar Bears will return to action at home this Friday and Saturday as they host the Midcoast Classic in Morrell Gymnasium. Bowdoin will open play with their conference match against Bates on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
