WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Williams women's soccer team put away a double-overtime goal to come away with the 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon.

The Polar Bears drop their second conference matchup in as many days, falling to 8-3-0 (5-2-0 NESCAC), while the Ephs improve to 10-1-0 (5-1-0 NESCAC).

Neither team was able to convert in the opening half of play, with the score reading 0-0 after the first 45 minutes. Williams finally broke through late in the second half, with just eight minutes remaining, off a goal by Maddie Swarr. Beginning with a corner kick on the left side, the ball eventually made its way to Lilly Wellenbach who tapped a pass to Swarr in the center for a blast to the left corner. Only five minutes later, Bowdoin answered with an equalizer that would eventually send the game into overtime. With play developing off a left side corner kick, Maggie Godley flicked a header to the back post where Jamie Hofstetter was waiting to connect and put it away.

Bowdoin withstood the Williams attack in the first overtime period, with goalie Bridget McCarthy making a save in the final seconds to extend the game. With another ten minutes on the clock for the second overtime, Amanda Kinneston made a move down the field but was intercepted by a Williams defender. The Ephs responded by testing McCarthy again as she was forced into a one-on-one with Audrey Thomas. Coming up with the initial save on Thomas' ball, McCarthy was unable to control the rebound before Kristi Kirshe was able to step in and slip the ball over the goal line for the 2-1 double-overtime win.

McCarthy made eight saves, including two in extra time, for the Polar Bears. Hannah Van Wetter stopped four shots for Williams. The Ephs held a 28-12 edge in shots and 4-3 corner kick advantage.
