Box Score CLINTON, N.Y. - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat Hamilton on Saturday afternoon, 3-1.
The Polar Bears rebounded from Friday's setback to Middlebury thanks to a school-record 40 digs from Katie Doherty. Bowdoin claimed the match by set scores of 18-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-17. Bowdoin improves to 13-5 (4-3 NESCAC) while the Continentals drop to 11-7 (3-3 NESCAC).
Doherty's 40 digs surpassed the previous school mark of 37 established by Jillian Berkman in 2009. She led a fantastic defensive effort by the Polar Bears, who also received 21 digs from Christy Jewett and 17 from Quincy Leech. The Polar Bears also had ten blocks as a team.
Jewett put home a match-high 19 kills to go with her 21 digs and also delivered two aces. Erika Sklaver had 10 kills while Michelle Albright added nine. Leech dished out 23 assists while Clare McInerney had 13.
Erin Donahue led Hamilton with 13 kills. Anna Brown had 29 digs and Kyndal Burdin had 32 assists for the Continentals.
Bowdoin will return to action on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. for an important regional match at UMass Boston.
