Baseball Finishes Spring Trip With Doubleheader Split Against Framingham

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Bowdoin College baseball team finished off its spring break trip to Florida with a split doubleheader against Framingham State on Friday.

The Polar Bears fell in game one, 2-1, before bouncing back in a 3-0 win in game two. Bowdoin returns north with a 8-6 record. The Polar Bears are scheduled to play a three-game NESCAC East Division series against Trinity beginning on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Pickard Field.

Oliver Van Zant took the hard-luck loss in the opener, tossing a complete game and allowing two runs and six hits while striking out nine. Duncan Taylor and Erik Jacobsen had two hits apiece for Bowdoin.

Bowdoin finished strong in game two, however, getting a complete-game shutout from Henry Van Zant, who whiffed six batters and allowed five hits in the victory. Tim McGarry had two hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases in the victory. Sam Canales added a pair of hits as well for Bowdoin.
