Women's Volleyball Celebrates Senior Day With Shutout Win Over Trinity

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team celebrated Senior Day at Morrell Gymnasium with a 3-0 win over Trinity on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (18-4, 7-1 NESCAC) have won 11 straight matches overall. The Bantams (13-8, 4-4 NESCAC) had three of their last four matches coming into Saturday's match. Bowdoin won by set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.

A balanced Bowdoin attack saw senior Ellie Brennan lead the team with eight kills. Christy Jewett had six kills and 11 digs while Katie Doherty added six kills and three aces. Sophia Cornew pitched in 30 assists while Taylor Vail had 17 digs.

Hannah Brickley and Sarah Whitham each had nine kills and ten digs to lead the Bantams. Gina Buzzelli had 12 assists in the loss for Trinity.

Bowdoin's senior class of Brennan, Cornew and Vail were honored in pre-game ceremonies. The trio have racked up a 91-23 record, two NCAA appearances and a NESCAC Championship to their credit over the last four years, including an astounding 34-1 record in Morrell Gymnasium.
