Charlier Scores Second-Half Game-Winner as Men's Soccer Edges Camels

Box Score

NEW LONDON, Conn. - For the second straight game, Cedric Charlier netted the game-winning goal to lead the Bowdoin College men's soccer team to a conference win - this time a 2-1 triumph at Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (6-2-3, 4-2-2 NESCAC) continue their climb up the NESCAC standings with their fourth-straight win and extend their unbeaten streak to eight (5-0-3). The Camels fall to 7-3-2 (3-3-3 NESCAC) with the loss.

After a scoreless first half, Andrew Jones put Bowdoin ahead with a goal in the 52nd minute, accepting a long cross from Hunter Miller and chipping it inside the far post at 51:59. Connecticut College's Zach Punt evened the score less than six minutes later, ripping a low shot inside the left post at 57:18.

With just under 20 minutes to go, Connor Keefe lofted a beautiful cross from the wing to the back post, where Charlier rose above his defender and netted the go-ahead goal with 19:50 remaining. Charlier also scored the game-winning goal in Bowdoin's last outing, a 1-0 win over Williams last Sunday.

Noah Safian made five saves in the win for Bowdoin. The Polar Bears will have a quick turnaround for their next game, as they host Babson on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
