Women's Tennis Dominates Tufts in Nationally-Ranked Clash Thursday

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win over Tufts University in a battle of nationally-ranked squads on Thursday afternoon.

The 10th-ranked Polar Bears improve to 7-5 (3-1 NESCAC) while the 13th-ranked Jumbos fall to 7-6 (3-1 NESCAC).

Bowdoin took a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles play, with the teams of Kellen Alberstone/Kate Winingham, Chantalle Lavertu/Emma Lewis and Emily Lombardi/Hannah Hoerner earning points.

The Polar Bears wasted little time sealing the win in singles play, getting straight-set wins from the top five positions. Alberstone, Winingham, Lombardi, Lewis and Susanna Howard all took victories for Bowdoin.

Bowdoin will host a big weekend of action beginning on Saturday when they play third-ranked Amherst at 11:00 a.m. The Polar Bears will play Hamilton and Wellesley on Sunday.
