Salisbury Prevails Over Bowdoin in Top-Ten Women's Lacrosse Battle

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Salisbury women's lacrosse team tipped Bowdoin 13-6 in a battle of top-ten teams Tuesday evening in Florida.

The second-ranked Sea Gulls remain unbeaten at 7-0 this season while the ninth-ranked Polar Bears drop to 2-2.

Carolyn Gorajek continued her hot play for Bowdoin, scoring three goals with an assist. Elizabeth Clegg and Katie Herter accounted for a goal and an assist each while McKenna Teague scored the other Bowdoin goal. Herter also had two ground balls and two draw controls.

Katie Bollhorst led all scorers with three goals and four assists for Salisbury, while Lauren Feusahrens scored three times with two assists.

Salisbury scored the first three goals of the game, and maintained a lead for the remainder of the first half. Bowdoin was able to stay within striking distance and trimmed the lead to 7-4 on a Gorajek goal before halftime. The Sea Gulls put the contest out of reach with a 6-0 run to open the second half, pushing their advantage to 13-4 with 12:30 to go.

Tara Connolly was credited with seven saves for Bowdoin. Kara O'Rourke made five saves for Salisbury. The Sea Gulls held a 28-20 edge in shots for the contest.

Bowdoin will battle another nationally-ranked squad on Friday, when they wrap up their Florida trip with a match against 13th-ranked Hamilton at12:30 p.m.
