Box Score CLINTON, N.Y. - Will Hanley scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Bowdoin College men's basketball team to a 74-61 win over Hamilton College in a NESCAC game at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Jan. 6.
Hanley also dished out three assists in the Polar Bears' sixth straight win. Ryan O'Connell and John Swords added 10 points apiece, and Swords pulled down seven boards. Andrew Madlinger and Justin Nowell chipped in eight points apiece, while Nowell and Wyatt Littles each posted three steals. Bryan Hurley handed out a game-high five assists.
Hamilton (10-4 overall, 0-1 NESCAC) trailed 37-33 at the half, but tied the score at 39 on a Greg Newton layup with 16:16 left. Just over a minute later, Bradley Gifford hit a 3-pointer to tie the score at 42 for the Continentals. But Bowdoin responded with a 17-1 run, kicked off by a Nick Lenker jumper, to give the Polar Bears the lead for good. Swords capped the spurt with a pair of free throws with 10:11 remaining. Bowdoin led by as many as 21 points in the final minutes.
Bowdoin (9-2, 1-0) shot a blistering 54.7 percent from the floor and held a 35-32 rebound advantage. The Polar Bears travel to Tufts University for a NESCAC game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m.
