Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 non-conference win over Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday evening at Morrell Gymnasium. With the win, the Polar Bears (11-1) tied the program record for consecutive wins by taking a 25-16, 25-14, 25-12 decision over the Mariners (12-2).
First-year Emese Gaal delivered six services aces for the Polar Bears while also earning seven digs. Ellie Brennan and Hillary Cederna led Bowdoin with eight kills apiece while Kristin Hanczor had seven kills. Sophia Cornew paced the squad with 30 assistswhile Jillian Berkman had 11 digs.
Chelsea Ward and Sydney Robertson had five kills each for Maine Maritime while Jennifer Dixon was credited with 13 assists in the loss.
Bowdoin has won 10 consecutive matches for just the second time in program history, tying the mark set by the 2006 team.
The Polar Bears will return to action with a NESCAC Meet this weekend at Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears will face Tufts on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. before facing Connecticut College at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Maine Maritime will host Castleton and Green Mountain on Saturday in Castine.
